Study in France

France is attracting more and more international students who register to study in France, more than 400,000 since the 2021-22 school year. The appeal of French institutions continues to increase and applications were still in sharp increase (+18%) for the 2022-23 school year according to Campus France, the French body responsible for overseeing the procedures to study in France.

If you also want to continue your graduate studies in France in a university or “grande école”, you must start now for registration next fall.

The procedure varies depending on your situation.

You are not a European Union citizen and you are a member of one of the following 66 countries:

Azerbaijan, Algeria, Argentina, Bahrain, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Ecuador, Egypt, Djibouti, South Africa, Ecuador, United Arab Emirates, United States, Gabon, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Laos, Lebanon, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mauritius, Mexico, Niger, Nigeria, Peru, Qatar, Dominican Republic, Russia, United Kingdom, Senegal, Singapore, Taiwan, Chad, Thailand, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Vietnam. you have to go through the “Études en France” procedure and you must go to their platform.

You will have to set up a file and apply for a “Demande d’Admission Préalable” (DAP) if you are a high-school graduate (unless you are preparing a French or European baccalaureate). If you already hold the baccalaureate and wish to study in France in second or third year of license or in Master,
You do not have to apply for the DAP. You will still need to set up a file. Whatever your year of study, you will be asked for several documents. You will find the list on our site: https://etudes-france.org/en/dossier-campus-france/

You are a national of the European Union or of Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Monaco or Andorra

You do not have to go through the “Études en France” procedure. Like the French, graduates must follow the “Parcours Sup” procedure. Students must send a request to the institution concerned without being subject to a particular procedure.

You live in Europe but are not a European citizen

You must apply for the DAP to gain access to a first year at a higher education school. This rule therefore applies to graduates, but it does not apply to students who can apply directly to the institution that interests them for a second year, a third year or a Master’s degree. Students who are not nationals of the European Union or of one of the above-mentioned 66 countries covered by the “Études en France” procedure must also apply for the DAP.
